The client required a modification of the standard fan for creating controllable wind effects on set while filming. They requested to add a dual-speed setting on LWCA-110820SN-06 cross flow fan the without altering the standard model parameters. The fan’s airflow in two modes should have a noticeable difference. The initial order was 24 units.
Engineering Solution
Considering the client’s limited install area, the solution was to develop a custom-tapped AC motor winding instead of using an external VFD. LONGWELL’s motor engineers designed a new winding configuration by creating two stable operating points from the same motor. The modified LWCA-110820SN-06-12 creates two separate electrical taps. It can deliver the full 1250 RPM and the lower 625 RPM rotation. The airflow can be switched between the two modes of 875 and 1750 m³/h, providing a significant difference in wind effect. The other materials were kept the same as the standard model.
