An OEM fan component enquiry should identify exactly which part is needed and how it will be accepted. Impellers, side plates, brackets and motor interfaces each have different drawing and inspection requirements.
Establish the part definition
Use a part number and revision on the drawing, quotation request and sample record. State the material, finish, critical dimensions and tolerances. Include the mating component or an assembly drawing where a dimension controls fit.
LONGWELL fan drawings can describe both the complete assembly and its component interfaces. For example, an LWCA cross flow fan layout identifies the motor, impeller and housing plates as distinct items. Requesting a component alone requires the relevant part definition, rather than relying on the outline dimensions of the assembled fan.
Agree the inspection and handover
Identify which measurements need a dimensional report and which assembly checks need a physical sample. For an impeller, include the shaft interface, rotation direction and the balance requirement appropriate to its intended operating speed. For a bracket or plate, include the hole pattern and surface condition.
Set out the sample approval steps and keep the approved revision with the production order. A change to material, tooling or a critical dimension should be recorded in the same documentation. This gives purchasing, engineering and inspection teams a common part definition through the handover.
