Renewable Energy Cooling
One-Stop Fan Platform
From the PV inverter to the BESS container to the 350 kW charger: EC axial fans to Ø1000 mm, backward-curved EC centrifugal to the 1,800 Pa class, and ATEX-certified emergency exhaust — with the 0-10 V / PWM / Modbus RTU / BACnet MS-TP interfaces, IP55–IP66 housings and −25 °C cold start that outdoor energy equipment requires.
Why LONGWELL for Renewable Energy Equipment
Energy hardware is bought on three numbers the buyer cannot inspect: years of unattended service, watts lost per year, and whether the fan survives the enclosure. We build the platform around those three — plus the certification scope that decides whether the equipment can be sold at all.
Ø200–1000 mm, 13 Diameters
One EC axial platform covers the whole renewable stack: Ø200–300 for charger cabinets, Ø300–450 for PV inverters and BESS containers, Ø450–1000 for nacelle and container heat rejection. Shared register map means one integration effort per OEM, not per product.
LWAE3G-200 → LWAE3G-1000 · 800–32,000 m³/h · 30–2,200 WSealed Outside, Certified Inside
Inverter housings sit outdoors for 20 years; BESS containers can hold combustible dust and vented gas. IP44 through IP68 variants to IEC 60529, and ATEX II 3D Ex tc T125 °C IIIC scope for dust zones and container emergency exhaust.
IP44 / IP54 / IP55 / IP66 / IP68 · IEC 60529 · IEC 60079-310–10 VDC and 4–20 mA on One Fan
Wind and utility buyers specify both signals on the same unit — and want it printed on the datasheet and the schematic, because a mismatch triggers a repeat witnessed test. Modbus RTU, RS485, BACnet MS-TP and CANopen optional across the EC platforms.
0-10 V + 4-20 mA + Modbus RTU · PF > 0.95 · 12 protectionsPart Load Is the Whole Bill
BESS and inverter cooling runs at part load almost all year — energy shifting, night-time EV charging, low-irradiance mornings. LWBE3G bionic impellers cut 4–6 dB(A), halve high-frequency noise and save 8–12% energy with +25–30% stall margin.
Static efficiency 73–82% · ≤1,800 Pa · L10 60,000 h @ 40 °CWhere Normal Plug Fans Starve
Dense filter faces, radiator cores and long container ducts push duty past the 1,800 Pa envelope. High-pressure variants hold 3.2 kPa at the cartridge face and 1,658 Pa from a 280 mm frame — with curves measured per part number, not interpolated.

6 Renewable Energy Segments, One Platform Logic
Each segment differs in static pressure, duty cycle, ingress protection and certification scope — but they share the same EC motor and control layer, which is what makes a single-supplier BOM practical across a product portfolio.
PV & String Inverter Cooling
External fan over the heatsink on a closed IP66 housing, plus internal circulation and hotspot cooling on central inverters. Ambient can hit 60 °C on a roof or in a container station.
BESS Container & Battery Cabinet
Container-level ventilation, cabinet-level circulation around LFP modules, liquid-cooling heat-exchanger airflow and fire-gas emergency exhaust. BMS-linked control, 20-year design life.
EV Fast-Charging Cabinets
Sealed power-electronics cabinets at 200–600 kW, plus liquid-cooled cable circuits where the radiator sits behind an EC centrifugal. Noise matters at residential and retail sites.
Wind Turbine Cabinets & Nacelle
Converter and control cabinets in the tower base or nacelle: vibration, salt-laden air, −25 °C cold start, and maintenance windows measured in months — reliability outranks peak efficiency.
Power Plants, Fuel Cells & Bio-energy
Generator and transformer cooling, machine-room ventilation, combustion air and emergency cooling circuits — duty that must run when everything else has failed.
Direct Air Capture & Carbon Removal
Contactor airflow at very large volume against a high pressure drop — fan electricity is the dominant operating cost per tonne of CO₂ captured, so efficiency and controllability decide the business case.
3 Platforms × Renewable Energy Duty

Four Segments, Requirement by Requirement
The three things that actually go wrong in each segment, and the configuration that answers them.
PV & String Inverter Cooling
Closed housing, heatsink on the outside, ambient up to 60 °C. Every degree inside the enclosure costs usable watts — and the fan is the only part expected to last the plant's life.
Temperature derating is silent revenue loss
Inverter output falls as internal temperature rises. A fan that loses 15% airflow to a clogged intake in year three quietly costs more than the fan did.
The fan lives outdoors, the electronics do not
IP66 on the external path, UV-stable housing, and a bearing system rated for continuous duty at 60 °C ambient — not the 40 °C laboratory condition.
Plant life vs fan life
PV plants are financed over 25 years. Fans are often the first component to be replaced; L10 at 40 °C and an accessible replacement envelope are part of the electrical design.
| Requirement | Recommended configuration | Why |
|---|---|---|
| External heatsink fan, string / central inverter | LWAE3G EC axial Ø300 / 350 / 400, IP66, Modbus RTU | Sealed external path; speed follows the inverter's own temperature signal instead of a fixed thermostat |
| Retrofit into an existing inverter station | LWBE3G280-102PS-04 — 3,863 m³/h, 1,658 Pa max, IP55, 0-10 V / PWM / RS485 | The incumbent's pressure curve is the binding spec; airflow alone will starve the heatsink |
| Internal circulation / hotspot | LWBE3G compact Ø190–280 centrifugal | Moves air across the enclosure instead of recirculating a hot pocket over the IGBTs |
| Cold-climate start | −25 °C cold-start T1 report on request | Northern-array mornings start below freezing with the electronics already at ambient |
| Service in year 8 | Documented replacement envelope + connector layout | Retrofit time on a rooftop or in a container is a labour cost, not a fan cost |
P-Q curves are issued per part number from the AMCA 210 / ISO 5801 bench. Send the enclosure drawing and the heatsink ΔP and we return the curve at your operating point.
BESS Container: Thermal Management & Fire Safety
One container has two airflow jobs that are usually specified by different people: keeping LFP modules in their temperature window, and emptying the container of flammable gas before it becomes an explosion.
Temperature spread shortens pack life
Cell-to-cell ΔT drives uneven ageing; a container that is cool on average but stratified still loses capacity in the hot zone first.
Gas accumulation is the real hazard
Fire codes treat vented flammable gas as an explosion risk, not a smoke problem. Emergency exhaust must be rated for the zone it sits in.
Daily cycling for 20 years
Energy-shifting duty means continuous part-load operation, not peak design point. Bearing life and part-load efficiency decide the 20-year cost.
| Requirement | Recommended configuration | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Container ventilation / heat rejection | LWAE3G EC axial Ø350 / 400 / 450, IP55, ATEX variant option | BMS-driven speed control; 450 mm is the mainstream frame for 250–500 kW containers |
| Cabinet / module-row circulation | LWBE3G310-102NS-29 (-18 / -19 / -20 / -21) | Ducted internal paths need static pressure; centrifugal holds flow as filters load |
| Liquid-cooling heat exchanger | LWBE3G high-static or LWHV high-pressure class | Radiator cores and dense fins are a pressure problem first, an airflow problem second |
| Emergency exhaust — fire gas | REM 400 / 450 / 500 / 560 ATEX EC, II 3D Ex tc T125 °C IIIC | Explosion-protected, certificate per shipment; REM 450 is the standard 250–500 kW container fit |
| Control & interlock | Modbus RTU / RS485 to the BMS, 12 built-in protections | The BMS should see fan status, not just a contactor; alarms must precede a temperature trip |
| Winter / commissioning | −25 °C cold-start report; IP55 for coastal containers | Cold commissioning happens before the heating circuit is proven |
EV Fast-Charging Cabinets
A 350–600 kW charger converts 5–8% of its throughput into heat inside a sealed cabinet: 20–45 kW that has to leave through a filtered intake, a radiator, or both.
Duty is spiky, not steady
Full power for 20 minutes, then idle. The fan must ramp with the power modules, and idle quietly at a retail or residential site.
Two heat paths, two fan types
Air path through the cabinet and liquid path through a cable/radiator circuit. One needs volume at low static, the other needs static through a core.
Filters load, output drops
An intake filter that doubles its resistance after a season moves the operating point up the curve — select on the dirty-filter duty, not the clean one.
| Requirement | Recommended configuration | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cabinet inlet / exhaust 200–350 kW | LWAE3G Ø200 / 250 / 300, IP55, 0-10 V / PWM | Compact frames fit the enclosure wall without a plenum; PWM keeps cabinet pressure stable |
| 350–600 kW liquid-cooled circuit | LWBE3G310 high-static on the radiator | The radiator core is the pressure drop; the fan has to be selected at the core's curve |
| Night noise at residential sites | Bionic impeller (LWBE3G) + ≤1,800 Pa duty | −4–6 dB(A) and −50 % HF noise is the difference between a permit and a complaint |
| Coastal / high-dust sites | IP66 variant + coated housing | Salt fog and brake dust both attack the impeller edge first |
| Multi-bay cabinets | One register map across Ø200–300 frames | A 6-bay site integrates once, not six times |
Wind Turbine Cabinets & Converter Cooling
Every service visit costs more than the fan. Converters and control cabinets in the tower base or nacelle must run unattended through vibration, salt air and −25 °C starts.
Maintenance dominates total cost
A fan failure that needs a nacelle visit can cost more than the unit several times over. Reliability is the specification; efficiency is the bonus.
Two control signals, one fan
Wind cabinets routinely specify 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA on the same unit. If it is not printed on the datasheet and the schematic, expect a repeat witnessed test.
Vibration, corrosion, cold
Brackets are audited like machined parts: material grade, welding detail, hole positions, tolerances — and the assembly video that proves them.
| Requirement | Recommended configuration | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Converter / control cabinet fan | LWBE3G450-138PT-12 — 8,755 m³/h @ 845 Pa, dual 0-10 VDC + 4-20 mA, IP54, Class F | Duty proven in wind cabinets; both interfaces stated on the datasheet |
| Nacelle ventilation / heat rejection | LWAE3G large frames Ø450–1000 | High volume at modest static, with speed control tied to gearbox and generator temperatures |
| Witnessed factory test | Dynamic balance ≤1.0 g/side · vibration ≤3.5 mm/s · withstand 2,100 V / 1 s · video record | The test procedure is agreed before sampling — that is what a witnessed test actually means |
| Bracket as an engineered part | Full manufacturing drawing + assembly video | Material grade, weld detail, hole positions and surface finish, all dimensioned |
| Series security | Reserve line capacity + stated warranty before award | Programmes have asked for 1,000 pcs/month reserved; we put it in writing |
Renewable Energy Cooling 2026–2030: What the Data Says
Sourced figures — IEA and standard-body data — so a capacity plan or a sourcing case does not rest on vibes. Each card states where the number comes from and what it means for fan selection.
Storage is now the biggest fan market in energy
108 GW of new battery storage was deployed worldwide in 2025, 40% more than 2024 and roughly 11× the 2021 installed base; about 80% was utility-scale, and China accounted for roughly 60% of additions. IEA's Stated Policies Scenario puts installed battery capacity near 900 GW by 2030 — every container carries 4–12 fans.
Source: IEA Global Energy Review 2026 / World Energy Outlook 2025Charging build-out keeps compounding
Nearly 1.8 million public charging points were added in 2025 — over 33% growth — taking the global stock above 7 million. China holds more than 65% of that stock and contributed over three-quarters of the year's growth.
Source: IEA Global EV Outlook 2026 — Electric Vehicle ChargingPower per point is climbing, not just count
Average rated power rose about 15% in a year — from just over 40 kW to nearly 50 kW — and ultra-fast points (≥150 kW) are now close to 15% of the global stock. Higher power density means more heat in the same cabinet footprint.
Source: IEA Global EV Outlook 2026 — Electric Vehicle ChargingDuty cycle changed shape
Energy shifting now accounts for more than 90% of new storage projects, against roughly 40% in 2015, and 4-hour-plus configurations are becoming routine. That is continuous, part-load, daily-cycling operation — which is exactly where EC part-load efficiency and bearing life are decided.
Source: IEA data via Canada Energy Regulator market snapshot (2026)Carbon removal is a fan-energy problem
DAC capacity needs to reach more than 85 Mt CO₂ per year by 2030 in the IEA net-zero pathway, from roughly 0.01 Mt operating today, with 130+ facilities announced. Moving that much air through an absorber makes fan electricity the dominant operating cost per tonne captured.
Source: IEA, Direct Air Capture — A key technology for net zeroEfficiency is a finance-line item now
LWBE3G bionic impellers measure 73–82% static efficiency with 8–12% lower energy and 4–6 dB(A) less noise than conventional wheels; EC versus fixed-speed operation saves roughly 30% at part load. On a 20-year container or charger site, that is the line item a CFO reads.

Wind Cabinets & PV Inverter Stations · 10 Project Threads
A documented programme, not a composite: correspondence dated 11 November 2020 – 3 January 2024, across wind turbine manufacturers, PV plant operators and solar process-equipment builders in India, the Philippines and Germany.
8,755 m³/h at 845 Pa, with the bracket audited like a machined part
1 · Challenge
- Testing is witnessed, not reported. One manufacturer required speed, current, input power, insulation withstand and vibration — with a test report and a video, and line-by-line alignment on the test procedure itself.
- Two control signals, not one. Wind cabinets specified 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA on the same fan, printed on the datasheet and the schematic, or it triggers a repeat test.
- The bracket is audited like a machined part. Material grade, welding detail, tube dimensions, hole positions, surface finish and tolerances on the drawing, plus an assembly video.
- Reserve capacity is part of the offer. One programme asked for a committed 1,000 pcs/month reserve line plus a one-year warranty before series award.
- Inverter cooling is a high-pressure retrofit. PV inverter and container-station replacements must match the incumbent's pressure curve, not just its airflow, and hold IP55 outdoors.

|---|---|
| Duty & interface | Airflow, static pressure and both control interfaces (0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA) agreed and marked on the datasheet and schematic before sampling |
| Test procedure | Witness format (on site, video or live) and test schedule agreed in advance, with fan-level and system-level items separated explicitly |

| Capacity & warranty | Reserve line capacity and warranty terms stated in writing before series award |
| Series supply | Samples go into the customer's own equipment for in-situ verification before the ramp |
5 · Engineering lessons
- Agree the witness format and schedule before sampling. Whether the customer attends, watches a video or joins a live stream changes the whole test plan, and settling it late delays the award.
- Draw the boundary between fan-level and system-level testing explicitly. Most disputes in renewable programmes are about which test proves what, not about the fan.
- Quote both control interfaces as a datasheet line item. 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA on one unit is a specification, not an option — and it has to appear where the schematic is drawn.
- Treat the bracket as a delivered engineering document. A drawing with tolerances plus an assembly video removes the second-round mechanical questions.
- On inverter retrofits, ask for the incumbent's pressure curve. Matching airflow alone is the single most common cause of an under-cooled heatsink after a "successful" replacement.

Battery cathode dust collection · gigafactory ATEX IIIC
1 · Challenge
- ATEX II 3D Ex tc T125 °C IIIC required for collector-interior fans in zone 21 — IIIB (grain) or IIIA (sugar) scope is not sufficient.
- Dense cartridge filter media needs 1,500–3,000 Pa at the fan — past the envelope of a standard plug fan.
- Gigafactory ramp rates demand sustained volume, not prototype batches; compliance documentation has to travel with every shipment.

3 · Modelled outcomes — typical range
How to read these figures: this is an anonymised composite reference case — the volumes and operating pattern are representative of the segment, not a specific named customer claim. Real references are available under NDA on project qualification.
4 · Engineering lessons
- Dust group IIIC is a different specification from IIIB, not an administrative upgrade. Electrostatic discharge, not just ignition temperature, drives the impeller and grounding design.
- The high-static fan is not a bigger version of the standard plug fan — at 3.2 kPa the wheel, the housing and the motor thermal margin all change.
- The ATEX certificate must ship with the goods. Permit-issuing authorities accept a per-shipment certificate; a one-time type test is not a substitute.
- Zone-22 workspace ventilation is routinely left out of the dust-collector OEM specification, and then has to be retrofitted after the first safety audit.
