1 · Challenge

  • Testing is witnessed, not reported. A wind turbine manufacturer required factory testing of speed, current, input power, insulation withstand and vibration — with a test report and video, and line-by-line alignment on the test procedure itself.
  • Two control signals, not one. Wind cabinets specified 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA on the same fan, which has to be stated on the datasheet and the schematic or it triggers a repeat test.
  • The bracket is audited like a machined part. Material grade, welding detail, tube dimensions, hole positions, surface finish and tolerances all have to appear on the manufacturing drawing, with an assembly video.
  • Reserve capacity is part of the offer. One programme asked for a committed 1,000 pcs/month reserve line plus a one-year warranty before series award.
  • Inverter cooling is a high-pressure retrofit. PV inverter and container-station replacements must match the incumbent’s pressure curve, not just its airflow, and hold IP55 outdoors.
  • When a site audit is not possible, trust has to be built from quality-system documents, test capability evidence and a documented development process instead.

2 · Solution architecture

These are qualification-and-audit programmes. LONGWELL supplies EC backward-curved fans with dual 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA control, inlet ring and bracket structures manufactured to a fully dimensioned drawing, and a factory test regime run to a procedure agreed with the customer in advance — including dynamic balance, high-voltage withstand and vibration limits, recorded on video. Aerodynamic figures are tested per AMCA 210/211 methods so the customer can reconcile them against their own system calculation.

Fan performance figures are quoted from LONGWELL controlled datasheets and product nameplates and are tested per AMCA 210/211 methods; third-party reports available on request. EC versus AC energy saving is approximately 30%, higher under strongly varying load — confirm against your own load profile. 4 · How these programmes run

5 · Engineering lessons carried forward

  • Agree the witness format and schedule before sampling. Whether the customer attends, watches a video or joins a live stream changes the whole test plan, and settling it late delays the award.
  • Draw the boundary between fan-level and system-level testing explicitly. Renewable equipment buyers work to system standards; being clear about which clauses apply to a component avoids repeated testing.
  • State both control interfaces on the datasheet and the schematic. A 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA requirement that is only in the email trail will be retested.
  • Treat the bracket as a manufactured part. Tolerances, material grade, surface finish and welding detail all belong on the drawing at first issue — heavy-equipment buyers audit the structure as closely as the fan.
  • When a site audit is blocked, substitute documented evidence: quality-system documents, test capability records, aerodynamic figures tested per AMCA 210/211 methods, and the development process flow.
  • Commit reserve capacity in writing. A stated monthly reserve plus warranty terms is often what converts a qualified sample into a series award.
  • On inverter retrofits, match the pressure curve, not just the airflow. These are sealed ducts, and a fan chosen on free-delivery airflow will not hold the duty.

6 · Project evidence

Every item below is a real project thread from LONGWELL’s own correspondence.
