What the appliance maker needed
A household appliance maker needed a compact OEM fan blower for a new line of portable heaters. The opening order was 500 units for each of four models, so 2,000 in all.
Basically the electrical requirement was 220V. Furthermore, the brief specified UK standards, which tells you the target market straight away.
What lifted this above a plain part enquiry was everything around the fan.
- Their logo printed straight onto the product.
- Then fully printed color packaging for retail shelves.
- Confirmed power, airflow and size, since one fan must suit four chassis.
- Lastly, full CE compliance, especially EN 60335-1 for appliance safety.
Their engineers also asked one direct question. Could the motor use an aluminum casing? That is really about cost, weight and heat. Consequently it deserved a proper answer rather than a polite yes.
Specifying the OEM fan blower
A portable heater pushes air across a hot element, then out through a tight front grille. That grille is what decides the fan type.
Why not an axial fan
We ruled out an axial fan at once. It lacks the pressure to beat the internal resistance, so airflow would collapse the moment the grille went on.
Consequently the answer was a direct-drive forward-curved blower, which builds the pressure needed inside the small space the enclosures allow.
The aluminum motor question
Initially the customer asked about aluminum, wanting lower cost and less weight. So we weighed it properly against our standard shaded-pole motor in a steel casing.
A custom aluminum housing is possible. However, the costing showed it raises the bill of materials with no matching gain here. Our existing motor already sheds heat well enough inside a heated box.
So we recommended the standard proven AC motor instead. Saying no to a customer idea is sometimes the more useful answer, provided the reasoning goes with it.
One configuration for four models
Finally we built the proposal on our DD series of centrifugal blowers, with project part numbers for each heater variant.
The engineering sat in picking an impeller size and motor winding that give enough airflow for real heating without turning noisy. A heater that roars goes back to the shop, whatever heat it makes.
Crucially, we settled on one fan build usable across all four models. That simplifies their stock, their line and their spares. On a consumer product, that matters more than shaving watts.
Technical Specifications
Here the figures below cover one OEM fan blower serving all four heater models. That single choice is worth more to the customer than any number in the table.

| Frequency | 50 Hz |
| Airflow | 115 m³/h |
| Static Pressure | 65 Pa |
| Speed | 2100 RPM |
| Input Power | 18 W |
| Current | 0.15 A |
| Insulation Class | Class B |
| Protection Class | IP20 |
Technical Documentation

Why the appliance OEM chose us
For an appliance OEM chasing a seasonal launch, three things counted.
- Branding and packaging handled. The customer needed a printed logo and its own retail packaging. Our 90-day NPI process is built to absorb that. Consequently they hit a tight seasonal sales window.
- Cost engineering, honestly done. The aluminum question showed how tight the budget was. We met every technical and safety need at a price that fits a consumer bill of materials, and well below European rivals.
- Volume they can rely on. Two thousand units to start needs proven capacity. Our yearly output, above 120,000 data center units and 30,000 cold chain units, is what keeps quality steady and delivery on time.

Questions about OEM supply
What are the MOQ and lead time for a custom OEM assembly?
Where branding and packaging are involved, a first order usually runs 500 to 1,000 units. On this heater project we agreed 500 per model. Once the design is finalised, make-to-order production takes 15 to 25 days.
Can you supply fans with aluminum motor casings?
Yes. Our engineers design an OEM fan blower with an aluminum casing on request. For this heater we ran a cost-benefit analysis instead, and our standard steel-cased motor met every thermal and safety requirement at a better price for a consumer product. Aluminum makes sense where weight or heat genuinely constrain the design.
What compliance documentation do you provide?
A full pack supporting your own CE marking. It covers a Declaration of Conformity for the Low Voltage Directive, EMC and RoHS, plus test reports against standards such as EN 60335-1. Those reports take a large part of the paperwork off your side.
Why does one fan across four models matter so much?
Because every extra variant multiplies through the business. One more fan means another part number, another stock line, another incoming check, another spare to hold and another thing to fit wrongly. Settling on one OEM fan blower removes all of that at once.

Have a fan requirement like this one?
Send the datasheet you are working against, or simply the duty point. Then our engineers tell you what fits and what does not. Meanwhile custom spec sheets and samples take up to 90 days. Since 1990 we have been building fans for OEMs worldwide.
