Customer Requirement
An OEM client required an axial fan for new equipment enclosure ventilation. The power supply specification required by the customer is 220V / 50Hz alternating current. The project required a square-frame axial fan with an integrated protective shutter. The fitting space is 320 × 320 mm for mounting, with a maximum depth of 155 mm. The axial fan needed to deliver over 1,500 m³/h airflow at a minimum static pressure of 120 Pa. The key requirements were compliance. Both the product label and technical drawings had to specify an IP54 protection rating and Class F (155°C) motor insulation.
Engineering Solution
The engineering team selected the standard LWEA2E250SM-082 AC axial fan as the initial solution. Its 250 mm frame size matched the installation requirements. The airflow of 1,800 m³/h at 190 Pa exceeded the initial requirement. An AC motor was selected to match the customer’s fixed 220V single-phase power supply.
The engineering team reworked the motor enclosure to bring it up to an IP54 rating, matching the compliance spec the client required. The motor components, including winding wire, slot insulation, and varnish, were verified to meet Class F at 155°C insulation requirements. Adjust the motor winding and replace the standard 4µF capacitor with a 3µF capacitor. When the finalized fan went through ISO 5801 testing, it delivered 1,627 m³/h of airflow at 123 Pa, all while pulling just 100W of power.
