Application engineering note

Data center air-handling equipment needs a fan selection based on the complete air path. The coil, filter, inlet arrangement and discharge geometry all belong in the specification used to assess the fan’s operating point.
Define the air-handling duty
LONGWELL’s LWBE family uses backward-curved centrifugal impellers and includes EC motor configurations. A plug-fan arrangement can be considered where the air-handling unit provides the required partition and discharge space.
Specify the required airflow and static pressure together. Include the expected filter condition and the operating modes that the cooling equipment must support. For an array, provide the enclosure layout and the intended operating sequence of its fans.
Coordinate controls, mounting and access
Confirm the selected model’s mains supply, control input and status outputs against the equipment controller. Include the required speed range and behaviour when a control signal is lost. Interface details must come from the exact motor and controller revision.
Check the inlet ring, fixing points, cable route and space needed to remove a fan for service. During equipment commissioning, assess the airflow distribution and temperatures at the locations defined by the system designer. A fan drawing and performance curve support that work; the complete cooling unit determines the resulting room or equipment temperature performance.
Discuss your fan requirement
Send LONGWELL your airflow and pressure duty point, power supply, available installation space, control requirements, operating environment and drawings. Contact our engineering team to discuss a suitable configuration.
Choose the right centrifugal fan
Longwell manufactures 1,146 centrifugal fans in-house. Send airflow, static pressure and voltage — an engineer replies with a matching model, performance curve and price within one working day.
