What the distributor needed

A European equipment distributor asked us to quote ten models across three product families. In short, they were looking for a single-source fan supplier rather than a specialist.

Nothing in the request was custom. Everything was standard product a single-source fan supplier could quote and ship quickly.

Small exhaust fans

They wanted pricing on 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch AC exhaust fans for spot ventilation: bathrooms, kitchens and small offices. Hole sizes ran from 105mm to 185mm. Meanwhile noise had to stay at or below 42 dBA, even on the largest unit.

Compliance with IEC 60335 for household appliance safety was implied by their target market.

High-pressure inflatable blowers

Altogether four models were listed, from 370W up to 1100W, all on 230V at 50Hz. Here the governing number is static pressure, peaking at 2550 Pa, because these blowers keep commercial bouncy castles and inflatable structures standing.

CE certification was non-negotiable for EU sale.

Large industrial fans

Lastly came 750mm industrial fans in pedestal, wall-mount and misting builds, for cooling factories, warehouses and outdoor venues.

What a single-source fan supplier had to cover

We logged this as light development, meaning papers and prices. Nothing here needed new product work.

Instead the real task was portfolio mapping. Could our catalog cover all ten models, and could we prove compliance and performance on each one?

What the alternative would have cost them

Without a single-source fan supplier, this distributor buys from three specialist factories. In practice that means three sets of terms, three shipping plans, three quality standards and three kinds of paperwork.

Consequently the overhead lands on their procurement team rather than on any individual product price.

Blowers

Firstly, all four models were confirmed as standard production units. So the decision comes down to matching power rating to the size and pressure of their inflatables.

We flagged one detail they had not asked about. The shell is flame-retardant and weather-resistant. Consequently it suits the rental market, where kit lives outdoors and gets handled roughly. Full CE certification was already in place.

Exhaust fans, two sizes

Similarly, these offer a clear trade between airflow and quiet. The 4-inch model delivers 0.8 m3/min at 38 dBA, which suits a small bathroom. The 8-inch reaches 2.5 m3/min while still holding 42 dBA, so it fits a larger kitchen or a small office.

Industrial pedestal and wall fans

Finally, this group meant confirming availability of the 750mm pedestal and wall-mount variants. Performance data showing airflow up to 13,800 m3/h settled their suitability for large-volume air movement.

Ultimately the deliverable was one package: performance curves, drawings and certificates, for all ten models at once.

Three unrelated families sit in the table below. In fact that variety is the whole story of this project.

Technical Documentation

Every model came back with its own data sheet and drawing. Consequently their team could check fit and compliance across all three families without chasing three suppliers.

In addition to these summary sheets, the full technical package, drawing.rar, was provided. This archive contains detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, allowing the customer’s engineering team to immediately begin system integration work.

Why one supplier beat three

Choosing a single-source fan supplier carries commercial weight well beyond the technical match.

  • One vendor instead of three. Consequently they drop duplicated vendor management, simplify logistics, and get one standard of quality and paperwork across the catalog.
  • Certified for Europe already. The blower series carries CE as standard, so there was no compliance risk or delay. Furthermore our China-local TUV NORD link shortens CE work on future projects.
  • Margin room for a distributor. Running several product lines makes margin critical, and a distributor cannot pass on a component cost the market will not carry. Our own production keeps that cost stable enough to plan around.
  • Standard enquiries move fast. This was processed as a routine quote, and make-to-order items run 15 to 25 days. By contrast, suppliers geared to long development cycles rarely move at that pace.

Questions about portfolio sourcing

Can I really order all three product families on one purchase order?

Yes, and most distributors do exactly that. Furthermore mixed orders ship together from Ningbo, on one set of documents and one payment term. Typically that is where the saving sits, rather than in any single unit price.

Do the inflatable blowers come CE certified as standard?

Yes. The European standard versions carry full CE certification. That is why they are listed separately from other market variants. Certificates come with the shipment, so nothing needs chasing before your first sale.

What are the lead times across mixed product lines?

Make-to-order items run 15 to 25 days. Some high-volume models come from standing stock instead, which is much faster. Mixing families on one order does not extend the schedule, since these lines run in parallel.

What is the catch with buying everything from one supplier?

Concentration risk, honestly. Using a single-source fan supplier means one disruption touches all three lines. That is worth weighing, although running three vendors usually costs more. In practice a frame agreement with held stock is how most distributors cover that.

Got a duty point you need matched?

Tell us the airflow, the pressure and the space you have. Then we mark your duty point on a tested curve and send the drawing back. Meanwhile samples and custom spec sheets take up to 90 days. Since 1990 we have supplied OEMs across HVAC, refrigeration and industry.
