What the OEM ordered
An OEM sent us a parts list, not a design brief. They wanted HVAC ventilation accessories in bulk, enough to build out commercial ventilation runs.
Nothing on the list was custom. In other words this was a supply decision, not an engineering one. They wanted a whole section of the bill of materials from one maker instead of four.
What was on the list
- First, controls: 50 EC fan speed controllers plus 30 panel-mount switches.
- Next, ABS diffusers: 150 for 4-inch duct, 300 for 6-inch and 150 for 8-inch.
- Then stainless grilles: 100 each in 4, 6, 8 and 10-inch terminations.
- Finally, stainless backdraft dampers: 300 for 4-inch, 400 for 6-inch, 150 for 8-inch.
Above all, fit with standard round duct at 100, 150, 200 and 250mm governed everything. Meanwhile everything had to be in stock rather than made to order.
Notably, one item revealed the rest of the system. A 0-10V controller means the fans are modern variable-speed EC units. Consequently this is a new installation rather than a repair job.
Matching the list to part numbers
In practice these HVAC ventilation accessories needed sorting and listing, not designing. Consequently the project went straight onto our quotation workflow.
Turning a shopping list into part numbers
Initially the customer listed quantities against nominal duct sizes. So our engineers matched each line to an exact part number.
A 6-inch check valve, for instance, became a stainless backdraft damper. Its plate is 188 by 188 mm, sized for 150mm duct. Every line went through the same step. After all, a nominal size alone does not identify a part.
The documentation package
Next the team put the technical submittal together.
For the controller, that meant the spec sheet confirming its 110-230V input and 800W load. In practice that tells the buyer how many EC fans one unit can carry. Meanwhile the mechanical parts needed drawings giving diameter and mounting depth, which is what an installer plans around.
We proposed no substitutions. The customer had chosen well, so the goal was to fill the exact request quickly.
Ultimately the output was one quotation covering every HVAC ventilation accessory, plus twelve PDF files.

Why the buyer consolidated here
A simple order on the surface. Even so, it shows what a buyer gains by buying HVAC ventilation accessories in one place.
- One quote for the whole list. Twelve HVAC ventilation accessories and over 1,800 pieces went through a single quotation, from controls to stainless dampers. Consequently a great deal of procurement admin simply vanishes.
- Same-day paperwork. Altogether twelve spec sheets and drawings went out for quotation the day the enquiry arrived. For a buyer working to a site deadline, that speed is the whole service.
- Compatibility is a given. Furthermore, buying the controller from the maker of the fans removes integration risk. Its 0-10V output and 800W rating are set against our SmartEC platform. So commissioning is simpler.
- Stock across sizes and materials. The list spanned 4 to 10-inch duct in ABS and stainless steel alike. Filling all of it from stock is what makes an HVAC ventilation accessories supplier useful when production scales.

Questions about accessory sourcing
How many EC fans can one 800W controller drive?
Add up the input power of the fans, then leave headroom. The controller carries 800W and 10A, so it runs several small inline fans or one larger unit. However, the limit is real power draw rather than nameplate optimism. Use the measured figure at your duty point.
Do the stainless dampers suit outdoor terminations?
Yes, and that is largely why they are stainless rather than plastic. They handle weather and UV, whereas an ABS part eventually goes brittle. Meanwhile indoors the ABS diffusers cost less and do the same job. Consequently the list here mixes both.
Can accessories ship with a fan order?
Yes, and it is usually worth combining them. Accessories and fans consolidate into one shipment on one set of documents. Consequently freight cost and customs handling both drop. Tell us the fan order reference when you send the accessory list.
Is it worth buying HVAC ventilation accessories from the fan maker?
For controls, yes, since compatibility is certain and commissioning gets simpler. By contrast, for grilles and dampers the argument is purely commercial. Fewer suppliers, fewer invoices, one shipment. There is no technical penalty either way, so decide on procurement overhead rather than performance.
