What the OEM was qualifying
A European OEM asked for full documentation and pricing on 17 models from our AC axial fan range.
This was not one application. Instead it covered an entire product family, spanning 250mm to 800mm impellers, with airflow reaching 21,197 m3/h at the top.
They are developing a new line of commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Air-cooled condensers or dry coolers, most likely. Consequently they needed the data to run design qualification.
What the list told us
- First, they wanted both suction and blowing airflow directions, which affects heat exchanger layout.
- Next, many models carried the panel-mount suffix, meaning a square plate and guard grille.
- Meanwhile the list mixed 220V single-phase and 380V three-phase models.
- Finally, performance data had to be validated to AMCA 210/211, with full CE compliance documentation.
That panel-mount requirement is a tell. An integrator bolting fans to the outside of a coil frame needs a flange, not a bare ring. So the suffix says something about how they build.
Delivering the AC axial fan range
We logged this as light development, meaning documentation and quotation rather than a new product cycle.
Consequently the task was collating, verifying and delivering existing documentation for 17 standard models quickly and without errors.
Why the customer asked for AC
Our SmartEC platform was an obvious alternative, with better efficiency and integrated control. However, they specifically asked for AC models.
That usually means one of two things. Either a firm cost target, or a control system already built around external drives. Either way, arguing would have wasted their time.
The common platform
Every model in this AC axial fan range uses the same external rotor motor. It sits inside the impeller hub, which keeps the package short.
Meanwhile that shared platform is what makes a 17-model list manageable. Class F insulation and IP54 protection run through the whole range. So does a -30C to +60C operating range, which suits outdoor condenser duty.
The documentation work
Each of the 17 model numbers needed mapping to its datasheet, performance curve and 2D CAD drawing.
The panel-mount versions needed particular care, since their dimensions differ from the ring-mount and ducted variants. Getting that wrong costs the customer a redesign, not us.
Here the power supply mix mattered too. Supplying single-phase and three-phase from one family lets the OEM offer two electrical options. Meanwhile the mechanical design never changes.

Technical Documentation
Every model came back with a datasheet, a performance curve and a drawing. The panel-mount variants got their own dimensions, since those differ from the ring-mount versions.
Why one series covered it all
An OEM designing a whole product family at once thinks differently. Buying one AC axial fan range from one partner is strategy, not convenience.
- The range covers it. Filling a 17-model request from 250mm to 800mm out of one standard series simplifies the supply chain. Furthermore it standardizes quality and keeps design consistent across their line.
- Documentation, not development. Treating this as a documentation request rather than a project delivered the complete technical and commercial package quickly. imported European brands commonly quote 12 to 18 months for new product cycles.
- Verified data at a lower price. Performance tested to AMCA 210 methods and full CE certification match the engineering depth of European brands. Meanwhile the price sits materially below them.
- Configurations without tooling. Suction, blowing and panel-mount versions were all standard catalog options. Consequently their engineers could adapt one series to several equipment layouts with no custom fabrication.

Questions about this range
What is the lead time for 100 to 500 mixed fans?
A make-to-order batch of that size runs 15 to 25 days from purchase order confirmation. Meanwhile some models are held in stock and ship in 1 to 5 days for smaller quantities. Mixing models across the AC axial fan range does not extend the schedule, since they share a line.
What does the panel-mount version change?
It adds a square mounting plate and a guard grille as one assembly. Consequently the fan bolts straight onto an enclosure or coil frame, with no separate ring and guard. Aerodynamically nothing changes. Only the mounting dimensions differ, so check the drawing for that variant.
Can single-phase and three-phase versions share a chassis?
Yes, within the same diameter. The mechanical design stays identical and only the motor changes. In short, that is why OEMs like a range built this way. You can offer a 220V and a 380V version of your equipment from one set of sheet metal.
Would EC have been the better choice anyway?
For running cost, yes. An EC fan is more efficient and modulates smoothly, which matters on a condenser that runs most of the year. However, it costs more upfront and needs a control strategy to exploit. If the equipment uses simple on/off or an existing drive, the AC axial fan range is the right commercial answer.
