Application engineering note

Axial fan with a circular wire guard and metal blades
Representative guarded axial fan; model and application details are listed below.

An electrical equipment cooling fan enquiry should begin with the heat that needs to be removed and the air temperatures allowed by the equipment design. Those inputs help the designer define the airflow requirement before selecting a fan.

Describe the complete enclosure airflow path

Identify the intake and exhaust openings and the components the air must reach. Include filters, guards, ducts and internal obstructions in the pressure requirement. Show the available fan space and mounting position on the enclosure drawing.

LONGWELL’s LWAA documentation includes AC axial configurations, while the LWAE family uses EC axial configurations. The selected model needs to match the available supply and control requirements as well as the required airflow at the intended resistance.

Confirm installation and control details

State the voltage, frequency, speed-control arrangement and operating schedule. Describe the environmental conditions at the fan location, including ambient temperature, humidity, dust and cleaning exposure. Include cable routing and the space needed to service the fan.

Agree the temperature and airflow checks for the assembled equipment under its expected loading conditions. Matching the fan curve, enclosure geometry and operating mode gives the engineering team a defined basis for evaluating a proposed cooling configuration.

Discuss your fan requirement

Send LONGWELL your airflow and pressure duty point, power supply, available installation space, control requirements, operating environment and drawings. Contact our engineering team to discuss a suitable configuration.

Choose the right axial fan

Longwell manufactures 1,048 axial fans in-house. Send airflow, static pressure and voltage — an engineer replies with a matching model, performance curve and price within one working day.
