What the customer wanted documented

A distributor asked us for the full technical package on a 30-inch commercial misting fan.

They had already identified the model and sent a product image with it. In other words they were validating a specific unit for their catalog, rather than shopping around.

What the product category dictates

A commercial misting fan does two jobs in one housing. It moves a lot of air, and it evaporates water into that air. Consequently the spec reads differently from a plain pedestal fan.

  • Airflow had to reach 155 m3/min, which is the headline number for this class.
  • Power draw was capped at 350W, keeping it on an ordinary socket.
  • The water tank held 45 liters, so the unit runs unattended for hours.
  • Finally, it needed to work on both 220V and 110V at 50 or 60Hz for global sale.

That last point matters commercially. These go into workshops, farm barns and event tents. Those markets sit on different grids. Meanwhile safety follows IEC 60335 for electrical appliances.

How the commercial misting fan is built

This is a standard model, so our work was checking the spec and issuing the files. Even so, the design decisions behind it are worth setting out.

Why AC, not EC

The motor is AC with 100% copper windings. An EC motor was considered when the platform was first designed, then rejected for this product tier.

Here the reason was price. This commercial misting fan sells through distribution, where buyers want three speeds and reliability. An EC controller would raise the price without adding anything the user would ever touch.

Airflow against noise

The 30-inch axial impeller has its blade pitch and shape tuned to hit 155 m3/min, at a noise level people can work beside. That balance is the whole design problem here. Raw airflow is easy, whereas quiet airflow is not.

The mesh guard is a compliance part

Meanwhile the thickened mesh cover exists to pass finger-probe testing under standards such as UL 507. However, a denser guard blocks airflow. So the mesh pattern is chosen to pass the probe test while costing as little airflow as it can.

Where the water goes

The 45-liter reservoir sits in the base rather than higher up. That is deliberate: 45 liters weighs 45 kilograms, and putting that mass at floor level lowers the center of gravity.

A tall fan carrying its water high would be unstable, especially outdoors. Consequently the tank position is a safety decision as much as a packaging one.

What was issued

Here the approved document covers the 220V/50Hz base configuration, while noting the dual-voltage variant available for North America and other 60Hz markets.

Technical Specifications

Parameter Value
Model LWIF-750(30\”)S(U)-02A
Size 30 inch / 750 mm
Airflow 155 m³/min / ~5,473 CFM
Input Power 350 W
Voltage 220V / 110V
Frequency 50 Hz / 60 Hz
Motor Type AC Motor (100% Copper Winding)
Speed Settings 3
Water Tank Capacity 45 L
Height 1.75 m
Color Black

The 155 m³/min (5,473 CFM) airflow combined with the 45-liter water reservoir provides substantial evaporative cooling for large open areas, while the multi-voltage capability simplifies inventory for global distribution.

Why they sourced it from us

For a standard commercial misting fan, the supplier choice comes down to four things.

  • Cost structure. Manufacturing in Ningbo since 1990 lets us buy components such as 100% copper motors at a materially lower cost basis than imported European brands. That is what puts a durable product at a distribution-friendly price.
  • Documentation without the wait. This request moved from sales input to approved documents quickly. Distributors and OEMs qualify products on paperwork, so a fast turnaround here shortens their sales cycle rather than ours.
  • Numbers we can stand behind. The 155 m3/min airflow and 350W draw come from labs testing to AMCA 210/211 and ISO 5801 methods. Consequently what the datasheet claims is what the fan does.
  • Ready for more than one market. Our existing CE and UL work means base models are already engineered for international compliance. That removes a chunk of the customer own testing and certification burden.

Questions about this fan

What is the lead time for 100 units?

Standard production runs 4 to 6 weeks after purchase order confirmation. Larger volumes or customized variants get a scheduled plan from the assigned project manager. Our annual output, which includes over 120,000 data center cooling units, is what makes that schedule dependable.

Is an EC version available for variable speed?

Not as a stock model, although we can build one. The standard unit uses a three-speed AC motor for the best cost balance. Meanwhile a SmartEC version would give precise control over 0-10V, PWM or RS485. That runs through our 90-day NPI process from design freeze to first article.

What maintenance does the misting system need?

Clean the 45-liter tank periodically to stop mineral buildup, and do it more often in hard water areas. The motor itself uses sealed bearings that need no lubrication under normal conditions. Check the specification sheet for the exact IP rating before siting it somewhere wet.

Does misting actually cool, or just make things damp?

It cools by evaporation, so it works best in hot dry air. In humid conditions the water has nowhere to go, and you get wet surfaces rather than cooler air. Consequently a commercial misting fan suits workshops, barns and dry-climate events far better than a humid indoor space.
