LONGWELL Biomimetic EC Fan Technology: 82% Efficiency and Up to 6 dB(A) Lower Noise

NINGBO, China — July 6, 2026 — Ningbo Longwell Electric Technology Co., Ltd. (LONGWELL) today introduced the engineering behind its LWBE3G biomimetic EC fan platform, a backward-curved impeller design that reaches 73–82% static efficiency while running 4–6 dB(A) quieter than conventional fans. The platform targets HVAC OEMs, AHU builders, data-center cooling integrators and service engineers who need a reliable second-source path for premium European EC fans — without re-engineering their equipment.

Why This Matters? The Supply Bottleneck in Premium EC Fans

For years, specifying a high-efficiency EC fan for an AHU or precision-cooling unit, or data center application often meant relying on a narrow field of European suppliers. While these brands are known for their performance and quality, OEM and system integrators may face long lead times – typically 14 to 22 weeks, along with rising procurement costs and supply chain uncertainty.

Due to the extended lead times from premium brands, engineers who needed a dimensional drop-in alternative had few options that matched both performance and certification depth. The LWBE3G platform was built to close that gap.

LWBE3G is such a platform that provide HVAC OEMs, AHU manufacturers, refrigeration equipment builders, and data center cooling suppliers with a high-performance alternative to premium European EC fans. Combining biomimetic blade technology, motor efficiencies of up to 92%, fan static efficiencies of up to 82%, and noise reductions of up to 6 dB(A), the platform delivers premium performance without the long procurement cycle.

Overall, LONGWELL LWBE3G platform is engineered to enable engineers to accelerate product development while maintaining the efficiency, reliability, and quality expected in mission-critical HVAC systems.

Inside the LWBE3G: Biomimetic Blade Geometry

At the core of the platform is a biomimetic, backward-curved EC impeller whose blade geometry is inspired by forms found in nature. The design achieves static pressure efficiency of 73 to 82 percent, an improvement of roughly 5 to 8 percentage points over conventional impeller designs, and delivers 8 to 12 percent energy savings at equivalent airflow. The aerodynamic profile also lowers noise by 4 to 6 dB(A) relative to conventional designs, while the EC variant runs 3 to 5 dB(A) quieter than comparable AC fans and reduces high-frequency noise content by more than 50 percent. Extended stall margin of 25 to 30 percent improves stability across a wider operating envelope.

Each design is supported by LONGWELL’s in-house whole-unit CFD simulation service, which predicts a fan’s operating point, noise and vibration before tooling.

The numbers, verified in LONGWELL’s in-house AMCA 210 / ISO 5801 test rig:

Controls, Protection and Built-In Intelligence

The integrated EC drive offers 0–10V, PWM, Modbus RTU and BACnet MS-TP control interfaces, twelve onboard protection functions, and an L10 bearing life of 60,000 hours at 40°C, with IP54 and heavy-duty options available.

The integrated EC drive supports four control interfaces out of the box:

  • 0–10V analog — simple speed setpoint for legacy BMS
  • PWM — precise duty-cycle control for embedded controllers
  • Modbus RTU — serial monitoring and command for industrial PLCs
  • BACnet MS/TP — native building-automation protocol, no gateway needed

Certifications: Independently Verified, Globally Accepted

Every LWBE3G unit ships with documentation backed by third-party testing. LONGWELL’s certification portfolio spans the directives and standards that HVAC, rail and industrial buyers most commonly require:

Proven in the Field: Two Case Snapshots

Field and bench results illustrate the platform in service. In a 2024 retrofit for a European air handling unit OEM, the LWBE3G450-188PT-09 delivered 8,660 m³/h at more than 2,000 Pa while cutting energy use by approximately 30 percent versus the original AC solution. For dimensional interchange, the LWBE3G560-188PT-01 measured 16,039 m³/h, aligning with the 16,000 m³/h class of the ebm-papst R3G560 for a 1:1 drop-in that avoids plenum rework. Lead times run 1 to 3 days for prototypes and 15 to 30 days for production, compared with the 14 to 22 weeks commonly quoted for imported high-end EC fans.

Lead Times That Change the Project Plan

Imported high-end EC fans typically quote 14 to 22 weeks from order to dock. LONGWELL ships prototypes in 1 to 3 days and production batches in 15 to 30 days. For an AHU builder juggling a cooling-tower retrofit or a data-center fit-out on a tight milestone, that difference is the margin between on-time delivery and a liquidated-damages clause.

“We built the LWBE3G so that HVACR and industrial engineers can specify a high-efficiency EC fan and actually get it — on time, with the certifications their compliance team needs, and with performance data they can verify,” said Bruce Li, CEO of LONGWELL. “The biomimetic impeller is the headline. But the real value is giving customers a second source they can trust without re-engineering their equipment.”
