Customer Requirement

The client developing a new commercial-grade 3D printer found LONGWELL for cross flow fan customization. The project requires compact air circulation solution to manage thermal conditions. The customer requested a 3D CAD model to evaluate mechanical integration and the fan installation was limited to 50 mm (H) × 50 mm (W) × 300 mm (L) with seamless integration and without compromising airflow performance.

Based on the client’s own requirements, their minimum need is a standard operating temperature rating of +60°C would be sufficient. System integration was another critical design requirement. The customer specified a 24 V DC cross-flow fan to match the printer’s existing power architecture. In addition, PWM speed control was requested to enable precise aiflow adjustment. With these requirements established, LONGWELL’s engineering team began developing a customized cross-flow fan solution optimized for compact dimensions, airflow distribution, and seamless integration into customer’s 3D printing platform.

Engineering Solution

Upon receiving the brief, LONGWELL’s technical team immediately recommended a cross-flow fan configuration. The customer’s preference for 24V DC power and PWM control made a brushless DC motor the default choice.

Based on the dimensional constraint of a 50mm x 50mm cross-section, our engineer recommended Longwell’s LWCD 30 Series as the appropriate product family. and LWCD-30190MN-07 model was the most efficient and cost=effective choice. Its total length of 252mm fit comfortably within the 300mm maximum. The standard operational temperature rating of -25°C to +60°C  and the core housing matched the 50mm profile, but the standard mounting flanges extended the total width to 108mm. The engineering solution was to provide the definitive DWG CAD file for the LWCD-30190MN-07 immediately. This enabled the customer’s design team to import the model into their master assembly and verify the dimensional conflict, saving them weeks of prototyping guesswork.

Why Choose Longwell for 3D Printer?

  • Cost-Effective Thermal Management with Fast Delivery: Offers 35-55% lower landed cost compared to premium European brands. Lead times are drastically shorter: samples ship in 1-3 days, series orders (≤500 units) in 15-30 days, and OEM volume programs in 6-10 weeks—far faster than competitors’ 12-22 week lead times. This enables quicker 3D printer production cycles and reduced downtime for maintenance.
  • Easy Integration: LONGWELL fans support standard control signals, ensuring compatibility with 3D printer control systems without requiring BMS reprogramming.
  • Direct-from-Engineer Support: The OEM’s query was handled directly by a single technical PM to ensure that your requirement can be totally understood, leading to a relevant and actionable recommendation.
  • Certifications & Reliability: Longwell fans hold global certifications including CE (LVD + EMC), UL/cUL, TÜV, RoHS, REACH, and ISO 9001/14001/45001, ensuring compliance with international safety and environmental standards for industrial 3D printing applications.
