Customer Requirement

The customer needed a large exhaust fan for general ventilation in an industrial facility. The required operating point was 51,000 m³/h at 56 Pa, so the main challenge was to move a very high volume of air while keeping the exhaust fan within the available installation space.

The wall opening had already been determined, limiting the overall fan size to 1530 × 1530 mm with a maximum depth of 450 mm. Noise was another consideration for the working environment, with the specified sound level not exceeding 75 dBA.

The power supply requirement is 3-phase 380V, 50Hz. The project required complete technical drawings and verified performance data compliant with international standards like AMCA 210-16 and ISO 5801.

Engineering Solution

LONGWELL engineering team evaluated the application’s high-airflow and low-pressure requirements and finally selected the exhaust fan as the better solution. The final design was LWPVE-1530T-01. The selected solution was a more robust, practical belt-drive system. This design decouples the motor speed from the blade speed. We specified a standard and highly reliable 1.5 kW, 1400 RPM 4-pole AC induction motor. This motor drives a precisely calculated pulley system, reducing the fan blade’s rotational speed to just 420 RPM. Operating the large 1400mm diameter, 6-blade impeller at this lower speed was the key to moving the required air volume quietly and efficiently. This mechanical speed reduction proved more cost-effective and field-serviceable for this application scale than a large, custom-wound direct-drive EC motor. The solution provided the customer with the performance they needed using proven, readily available components, minimizing both initial cost and long-term maintenance complexity.
