An OEM was developing a new commercial air heater, the type that hangs over a doorway or hides inside a fan heater, pushing a wide, even sheet of warm air across a room. Behind it sat a 2,300 W heating element, and the supply was fixed at 220 V / 50 Hz.
They came with drawings and a reference point, which beats a blank page every time: our existing LWCA-65300S-10 cross-flow fan.
Engineering Solution
The motor came first. Jumping from 1,800 to 2,300 RPM is a 28% increase in speed, and at 220 V / 50 Hz no off-the-shelf motor hit that operating point. So our engineers designed a new winding configuration, tuned so the motor lands on 2,300 RPM at the customer’s supply voltage. Input power rose from 40 W to 50 W as a direct consequence.
Higher speed put a different question on the table: bearings. Running faster — and pushing air that’s just come off a hot coil — is hard on them. We swapped the standard sleeve bearings for ball bearings.
The smartest part of the project was what we didn’t change. The Ø64.5 mm impeller and the housing came straight from existing tooling — no new molds, no new NPI costs, no re-qualification of the aerodynamics.

A: Following the drawing approval, which took less than three days, the production of a 5-unit sample batch is typically completed within 2-3 weeks.
Q: Can this fan assembly be controlled for variable speed?
A: Not in the version we specified. The LWCA-65300SN-11-00 uses a fixed-speed AC motor tuned to run at 2,300 RPM on a 50 Hz supply. If you need variable speed, we’d propose an equivalent fan built around an EC motor with our SmartEC™ controller, accepting standard 0–10 V or PWM signals.
Q: The heating element is 2300W. What is the expected temperature rise of the air?
A: The exact temperature rise (ΔT) is a function of the final mass airflow rate, which depends on the static pressure within the customer’s specific air heater enclosure. For reference, the fan’s motor draws 50 W at 2,300 RPM in free air. Send us your system impedance curve, and we’ll run the test per AMCA 210-16 in our lab to pin down the operating point and calculate the real air temperature rise for your enclosure.
