Customer Requirement

An OEM customer needed two AC axial fans installed inside a duct. They selected LONGWELL’s LWAA4E250S-5MEB-32 and LWAA4E300S-5MEB-15 models as the benchmark models. The customer requested to modify the housing of each axial flow fan. This was because the barrel-shaped structure is more suitable for integration into their equipment.

Both sizes had to operate on a fixed 220VAC, 50 Hz power supply and maintain the original airflow output. Components used in the design needed to meet relevant European safety requirements, including EN 60335-1. IPX4 protection was specified for the finished fan assembly.

Engineering Solution

This project was classified as a light development project. The existing 250 mm and 300 mm axial fans already provided the required performance. The main requirement of this project is to meet customers’ integration needs.

LONGWELL designed and adjusted a cylindrical housing for each fan size. We used cold-rolled steel to match the existing fan structure. The housing structure and component arrangement were checked against the customer’s IPX4 requirement. The two configurations were released as LWAA4E250S-5MYB-32-00 and LWAA4E300S-5MYB-15-00.

Q: What is the difference between the standard plate fan and this tube axial version?

A: The primary difference is the housing. The standard models are plate-mounted for surface installation, while these ‘MYB’ versions integrate the fan into a cylindrical steel casing with a depth of 173mm (for the 250mm model) or 214mm (for the 300mm model). This makes them suitable for in-line duct mounting and can improve static pressure generation by preventing air recirculation at the blade tips.

Q: What is the expected service life and operating temperature range?

A: The specified L10 life is 30,000 hours at an ambient temperature of 40°C. The fans can operate from −30°C to +60°C, covering the temperature range required for many commercial and industrial ventilation applications.

Q: Are these AC axial fans suitable for speed control?
