How Air Conveyors Move Empty PET Bottles

An empty-bottle air conveyor combines mechanical neck support with pneumatic propulsion. The rails carry bottle weight, while distributed jets transfer momentum along a controlled path between production machines.

01 / Application principle

Follow the airflow through the equipment

01

Support the neck

The bottle neck ring rests on guide rails. Side guides limit movement of the hanging body and must suit the bottle format.

02

Supply the plenum

The fan supplies air through the specified filters and plenum network. Connections must preserve the designed pressure path.

03

Direct propulsion jets

Distributed openings direct the air along the conveyor. The resulting force moves the lightweight bottles against friction and other resistance.

04

Respond to accumulation

Control adjusts airflow to the machine demand and occupied sections. A stopped downstream machine requires coordinated accumulation behavior rather than indiscriminately higher thrust.

02 / Airflow function

What the fan contributes

  • Supplies air to the distributed propulsion openings.
  • Overcomes filtration and plenum losses at the required flow.
  • Provides controllable delivery as bottle format, line speed and occupancy change.
Air-path check

What interrupts the intended process

  • Incorrect guide adjustment causes rubbing, sway or poor transfer.
  • Plenum leakage reduces useful pressure at the jets.
  • Uncoordinated airflow pushes bottles into an accumulated queue.

Match the fan to this air path

Evaluate a LONGWELL centrifugal design using the required duty at the installed conveyor. The bottle, guide and nozzle arrangement determine the useful propulsion requirement. Confirm filtration losses and the allowed control range before selecting a model.

Where it sits

Supplying the filtered overhead air-conveyor plenum and its distributed propulsion jets.

Why consider this configuration

A centrifugal family can be compared against manifold losses and controlled pressure range; rails carry bottle weight.

05 / Equipment validation

Check performance in the assembled equipment

Trial the smallest, largest and least stable bottle formats.
Verify travel, curves, transfers and queue response at planned machine speeds.
Check useful pressure and airflow with actual filtration and plenum connections.
