Pool air is often cooled to remove moisture, then reheated for delivery.
A circulation fan moves humid return air through filtration and across a cold evaporator, where water vapour condenses and drains away. Refrigerant carries the removed heat through a compressor to a reheat condenser; depending on load, recovered heat can instead warm pool water or be rejected outdoors.
Follow the airflow through the equipment.
Controlled return path
The fan moves moisture-laden pool air through the filter and the defined treatment path.
Cool and condense
The evaporator cools air below its dew point so water condenses into the drain pan.
Recover refrigerant heat
Refrigerant carries the removed heat to a compressor, which raises its pressure and temperature before the reheat condenser.
Reheat or reject heat
Recovered heat can reheat the dry supply air or, depending on operating mode, warm pool water or be rejected outdoors.
What the fan is responsible for
- Maintain circulation through filters, wet coils, reheat and the duct system.
- Support control of humidity and supply temperature without confusing those two variables.
- Operate in a humid, potentially corrosive environment with suitable access and drainage.
Why the route matters
- Insufficient airflow can reduce distribution and change coil performance.
- Coil bypass carries untreated humid air downstream.
- A restricted drain or humid chloramine exposure can damage fan components and the surrounding unit.
Define these inputs before choosing a fan
A LONGWELL route to evaluate: RLM plug-fan or EC backward-curved centrifugal-fan families
LONGWELL RLM plug-fan or EC backward-curved centrifugal-fan families can be evaluated for the air-handler circulation path. Select against process airflow and total external static pressure, then review draw-through or blow-through arrangement, fan-air temperature, humidity and chloramine exposure, motor/control protection, drainage and service access. The linked RLM page corresponds to the product family shown in the video.
